IMAGE FOR PENTECOST

Taking place in an Eastern European country after the fall of the USSR, the play addresses issues of politics, art, language, and human rights.

Because of the scope of this play and its themes, I wanted a striking image that had a powerful and almost ominous feel. Language barriers and "Babel" were an important theme in the show, so I used the Cyrillic alphabet to spell out the show title, creating a "decipherable babel." I first illustrated the poster, then distressed it in the computer.
